A Happiness Director
I had a thought... what if every one of our companies in the private and public sectors had a Happiness Director? This isn't a scene from a Christopher Guest movie. Hear me out.
I received an email today for the beginning of the school year for my kids. Now the sentiment was in the right place, but it was a list of a plethora of workshops and resources surrounding all the things that could go wrong.
I'm glad the resources are there but what if we ALSO had an offering of workshops on ways to make our lives happier and more fruitful? What if we celebrated the wins throughout the year, big and small right out of the gate? What if we named all the things that were bound to be incredible in the upcoming year? If we do this in our lives and in our companies imagine what might happen.
It's not too aspirational. We always have room to be inspired. We at least have to start off that way. Professor Tal Ben-Shahar (2025) talks about the power of “AND”. Concepts and characteristics don't have to be mutually exclusive.
We can be productive with AND empathetic to our colleagues. We can enjoy our workplaces AND look forward to the weekend with family. We can complete a big project AND do it with grace and finesse.
A Happiness Director would inspire and lead in this vein.
Not ready for that? I can get you started in using storytelling to elevate your companies and increase overall happiness and productivity of your employees.
I offer public speaking, individualized designed company curriculum, executive and leadership coaching, trainings, customized classes and retreats through The Aurelia Network, the consulting arm of 917 Studios.
Maybe, just maybe, we can be happy AND make the world a better place to work and play.
I look forward to working with you soon.
Warmly,
Rebecca
